BTS - Skytrain

Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) Skytrain is the elevated metro rail in Bangkok. The Skytrain has 23 stations along 2 lines. The Sukhumvit line runs north terminating at Mo Chit and east, terminating at On Nut. The Silom line runs along Silom and Sathon, through the Central Business District, terminating at the National Stadium. The lines interchange at Siam station.
Ticketing
Single journey tickets are priced based on distance (10 to 40 baht) and are available at ticket machines located in every station. The machines only accept coins and do give change. You may also get exact change at any ticket office located at the station.
Stored value tickets are available for purchase or refill at any ticket offices located in the station. The value of the ticket will be deducted according to the distance of each journey.
Sky cards are available for 200 baht plus a 30 baht deposit, refundable at station offices. Minimum refill amount is 100 baht. Each ticket contains a total value of not over 2000 baht including the deposit, and may be used for up to 18 months.

Adult 10Trip Pass, 250 baht. 25 baht per trip, regardless of distance.
Adult 15Trip Pass, 300 baht. 20 baht per trip, regardless of distance.
Adult 30Trip Pass, 540 baht. 18 baht per trip, regardless of distance.
One day tourist pass, Unlimited trips for 1 day for only 100 baht
Three day tourist pass, Unlimited trips for 3 days for only 280 baht

The extension of the Skytrain to Suvarnabhumi International Airport is currently planned to be complete at the end of 2007. Keep in mind, Thai construction timetables are somewhat fluid.

You’ll generally find the BTS quite clean and civilized, especially compared to the buses chugging along below you. There can be a bit of gentle pushing at bording, but not the cattle car press you’d get in Tokyo.
