Bangkok Don Muang

Don Muang

Don Muang Bangkok Airport (DMK) served as the main gateway airport into Thailand from the 1930s until October 2006 with the opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport. It now operates as a national airport, handling domestic passenger movements to provincial centres by Thailand’s flag carrier Thai Airways, and it’s low cost offshoot Nok Air.

In early 2007 it was determined that the new airport was not yet ready to handle all traffic being transferred to it, and concerns for the economic viability of the areas bordering Don Muang, led to the reopening of the old airport amid much controversy.
