Nakhon Sawan
Nakhon Sawan is a centre north of Bangkok where the Chao Phraya River originates. Mainly an agricultural centre, Nakhon Sawan holds a few hidden beauties. Sawan Park in the city centre boasts a sizable lake, and fountain that transforms what could be a boring provincial centre into a photogenic oasis on the central Thai plains.
In the hills to the north is Wat Nakhon Sawan, with it’s giant Buddha, and several smaller buddhas, and statues that are a must see.
On the surface you wouldn’t think much is going on, but like isolated cities anywhere in the world, Nakhon Sawan has had to find ways to entertain itself, so there is substantial nightlife, inclusing a huge disco in one of the hotel grounds.
