Friday, May 18th, 2007

Khao Sok National Park is located in Surat Thani province. The park comprises the largest area of virgin forest in Southern Thailand and is the legacy of a rainforest which is older and more diverse than the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.

It is best known to most tourists for it’s elephant trekking, its exotic flora, and wide variety of animals, including gibbons and barking deer.

The park is home to the 94 m high Ratchaprapha Dam which was built in 1982 at the Khlong Saeng River, a tributary of the Phum Duang.
